There’s no denying Cardi B is on top of the hip-hop world right now.
Beau-d up and PDA-heavy with rapper Offset, Cardi B really is the “hottest in the streets” with her breakout single “Bodak Yellow” slated to hit No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 next week.
Newfound fame and wealth wasn’t enough to keep Cardi away from trouble in her city, as she tweeted about being put in a choke hold by a NYPD officer.
According to TMZ, Cardi was cruising near Colombus Circle in her Bentley with her cousin when she was hit by another car. Following the impact, Cardi and the other driver got into an argument which led to the arrival of several uniformed NYPD officers. Allegedly, the Brooklyn-born rapper was then put in a chokehold and roughly slammed against her car.
The “Lick” rapper then took to Twitter to voice her disgust in a series of now-deleted tweets.
When questioned by a fan if the cop was white, Cardi replied:
Before being deleted, the tweets went viral and gained thousands of likes from fans who agreed with Cardi’s outrage.
The rapper has not been silent in her condemnation of police brutality, speaking out about uniformed officers in Texas before her June 2016 concert appearance in:
“My concert is in Houston today I will be in Dallas Sunday,” the rapper tweeted. “Stop telling me to be safe. It’s not the people killin’ people is the cops.”

The Instagram-celebrity turned “Love and Hip-Hop” star turned red-hot rapper has been quiet following the incident, and has not issued a statement at this time.
