Forget “Cool for the Summer,” Demi Lovato is smokin’ hot in a recently uploaded series of sexy swimsuit pics on Instagram.
Stopping by “The Ellen Degeneres show” to promote her upcoming Demi x Khaled tour with DJ Khaled and Kehlani, Lovato opened up about the powerful motivation behind her most recent images on the ‘Gram.
“I’ve been working on myself for the past year,” she said. “I’ve really surrendered to the process of just learning to love yourself and I feel like it shows through my pictures. I post more bathing suit pictures online…I want to show my fans that they can get to that self-love too.”
When asked about a specific picture that Lovato posted as a testament to her recovery from an eating disorder, the “Stone Cold” singer revealed that she was initally hesitant to share the image with her millions of followers.
So, I’m insecure about my legs in this picture but I’m posting it because I look so happy and this year I’ve decided I’m letting go of my perfectionism and embracing freedom from self criticism. Learning to love my body the way it is is challenging but life changing. Giving up my eating disorder has been the most challenging journey of my life but I work every day towards solid recovery even if I mess up sometimes. Today I’m feeling strong. You all can do it too. It IS possible. Thank you God for this new chapter in my life. #EDrecovery #happyAF
“I was hesitant about posting that because I didn’t love my legs in it,” she added. “I decided to post it anyways because I thought, ‘You know what, it’s me, it’s who I am and I love my body so I’m just gonna post it.’ I’ve taken away the power from the negative comments and the haters by not listening to them and if I do see it, I just feel sorry for them. I’ve taken away the power and it just feels great.”
