Actress Jada Pinkett Smith struck back against Leah Remini online, declaring in a series of social media posts, that she is not a Scientologist.
Remini recently cited Jada Pinkett Smith as a “closet” Scientologist as part of her ongoing crusade against the church and its covert methods. Pinkett Smith responded in a series of tweets, admitting that while she has studied Dianetics, she does not label herself a Scientologist. Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard created Dianetics before founding the church. Dianetics uses many of the same methods as Scientology.
“I recently lit Shabbat candles with Rabbi Bentley at Temple Sinai… but I am not Jewish. I have prayed in mosques all over the world… but I am not a Muslim. I have read the Bhagavad Gita… but I am not a Hindu. I have chanted and meditated in some of the most magnificent temples on earth… but I am not a Buddhist. I have studied Dianetics, and appreciate the merits of Study Tech… but I am not a Scientologist. I practice human kindness, and I believe that we each have the right to determine what we are and what we are not. NO ONE ELSE can hold that power,” Smith tweeted.
Leah Remini has made numerous headlines the past couple of years after leaving her longtime association with the Church of Scientology. Remini has cited the beliefs and practices of the church as her reason for leaving. She also now hosts the television series “Scientology and the Aftermath” which focuses on the misdeeds of the controversial religion. It should come as no surprise that the Church of Scientology condemned the series.
Pinkett Smith, wife of actor Will Smith and known for roles in “Gotham” and the “Matrix” film series, has been rumored to have joined Scientology since 2004.
