Benedict Cumberbatch: ‘Infinity War’ Script Is ‘Very, Very Good Fun’

Benedict Cumberbatch is nothing if not a professional.

With all the various different projects he’s got going on, it can be difficult to find the time for everything – especially when the Marvel Cinematic Universe stands poised to monopolize all his time, should he let it.

With reports coming in that a stand-in actor is currently being used on the set of Infinity War, rumors have begun to buzz around that Cumberbatch might have been replaced for the upcoming movie.

Cool and collected, though, Cumberbatch has reassured Entertainment Tonight that he will indeed be on set for Infinity War later in the year, and that his stand-in on set is another of the Marvel Studio’s sneaky editing tricks to keep things flowing, while so many different actors’ schedules are juggled.

What’s more, Cumberbatch says that he’s already working his way through his script, suggesting that he’ll be travelling to the set before too long, and apparently, what he’s read is “very, very good fun”.

Now, it’s worth bearing in mind that Cumberbatch is a professional, and he’s not going to badmouth the Infinity War script in an interview.

At the same time, it’s good to know that he has a copy of the script and that he’s impressed with what he’s read thus far.

Clearly, somehow, Marvel is going to pull off the ridiculous task of filming two blockbuster team-up movies back to back, even if it means relying on stand-ins and green screens to get everybody to the right place at the right time.

The only disappointing thing, is imagining Cumberbatch being forced to film so much of his work on set after all the other actors have been dismissed.

It can’t be fun, emoting to a tennis ball on a stick that’s supposed to be Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

But, then, that’s why you get a professional for the job in the first place.
