Production on the next movie in the Jumanji series is under way now, and from the looks of things, the cast and crew are having a fantastic time.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has shared a video on Instagram which shows the entire team, in the middle of a drizzling rainforest, laughing, shouting, and playing around together.
We're in the raining #JumanjiJungle baby! Jack Black's "Gonna watch you bleeeed" at the end kills me. Phenomenal first week of shooting with my extremely talented and funny co-stars @kevinhart4real, @karengillanofficial and our resident rock and roller Jack Black! We've been battling the jungle elements daily and director Jake Kasdan and hard working boots on the ground film crew is raising the bar when it comes to delivering the goods. Makin' a good one for you over here in Hawaii and Jack's makin' em bleed. #OnLocation #Hawaii #Jumanji
The shoot is currently taking place on location in the jungle in Hawaii, as the actors and crew brave the elements – according to Johnson, the first full week of shooting has gone well, and everybody is eager and excited by the project.
There’s plenty of speculation currently as to how this new movie fits within Jumanji canon. According to Johnson, the new film is not a reboot or a remake of the 1995 Robin Williams movie, but is instead a continuation of the same continuity.
Rumors abound that the characters played by Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black, are in fact in-game avatars for a group of teenagers playing the board game.
This hasn’t been confirmed by official sources, but Karen Gillan has stated that there’s an in-continuity reason for why she’s dressed like Lara Croft.
The camaraderie on set looks like a lot of fun, so here’s hoping that some of the playfulness behind the scenes on Jumanji shows up on camera – if so, this could well end up being just as entertaining as the original movie.
