Let’s face it – Fox is running out of decent comic book characters to throw into their X-Men movies.

Having featured the vast majority of the well known Marvel mutants in previous films, and with so few new characters being produced by Marvel for Fox to rely on, it’s no wonder that Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have been scraping the bottom of the barrel to find decent heroes to adapt.

This even becomes a joke within the original Deadpool, as the Merc with a Mouth comments on the less than stellar X-Men that he’d forced to team up with.

According to Wernick and Reese, the next movie will continue this trend by featuring obscure X-Men character that fans will get a real kick out of.

Speaking to The Latino Review, the pair said:

“Yeah, Cable and Domino grabbed the headlines on Deadpool.  But there are definitely some more obscure characters that people know or that real diehards know that will be in there just by virtue of we need a new villain, and we need some new good guys to compliment (Deadpool), but it is growing. Of course, it will be all about the lunacy that is Deadpool himself.”

So with the wealth of obscure and bizarre characters at Fox’s disposal, who are we likely to get in Deadpool 2?

Personally, this writer votes for Glob Herman.

He’s a big gooey ball of flammable pink liquid with a skeleton and internal organs on display. With Deadpool 2’s bigger budget, he could look even better than the first movie’s Colossus, and considering the tone of the movie, there’s no better time to use such a weird character that just won’t fit with the (slightly) more grounded X-Men main series of movies.

But, this remains a pipe dream, and we’ll have to wait for further information from Fox before getting excited.

One thing’s for certain: whoever shows up in Deadpool 2, they’ll be some of the weirdest, most obscure characters in the Marvel pantheon.
