Deadpool is a movie which works hard for its R-rating.

From violence and gore, through to copious swearing and depictions of bedroom shenanigans, this is a film which is hardly suitable viewing for younger audiences.

Apparently, though, there’s plenty of stuff that viewers didn’t get to see in the theatrical cut of the film, which remain more-or-less a mystery.

Morena Baccarin, who played the escort love interest Vanessa, has spoken recently about some of the sex scenes that were filmed for the movie, and has explained why she’s very glad that they hit the cutting room floor.

According to Baccarin, the process of filming these scenes was lengthy and fairly uncomfortable, but while there’s plenty of sex in the final movie, lots more didn’t make it into the film:

“It took about two days to shoot because it was us making sweet love for an entire calendar year. So it was all the holidays, you know? We dressed differently for every one. Believe me, there’s a lot left on the cutting room floor, because there’s a lot of holidays. And I feel good about that — the part that was left out.”

So was anything that was cut from the final film embarrassing or distressing for Baccarin?

“No, no, no. I literally mean that was enough sex. Nobody needs to see more than what was in the movie.”

So there you have it. Somewhere in Twentieth Century Fox’s archives is a series of videos of Ryan Reynolds and Morenna Baccarin, cuddling up while dressed as groundhogs, that will never, ever see the light of day.

That’s six more weeks of winter for all of us.
