There’s nothing quite like a good ball-shaving joke.

Spoiler alert for the new red band Super Troopers 2 trailer, by the way. This little glimpse at the movie is short and sweet, so there’s not much here apart from some good old fashioned trooper hazing.

The movie is now a mere eight months away, with the trailer’s primary purpose aimed at helping you to remember exactly what day this film will come out – naturally, it’ll be April the twentieth, because, well, what other day would you release Super Troopers 2?

Aside from the pube-shaving joke, there’s a fun bit with Jim Gaffigan, returning for the sequel, as a call-back to the original film (he even references the “meow” joke from the first movie).

This time around, the big difference, as Jim’s character notes, is that our heroes are all Mounties. The specifics of this will no-doubt be kept secret until the movie hits theaters next April, but in the meantime, we do know that it’s something to do with a border dispute with Canada, thanks to a description that’s accompanied the trailer:

“When the United States and Canada get into a dispute about the location of the actual border, the Super Troopers–Mac, Thorny, Foster, Rabbit and Farva–are called in to set up a new Highway Patrol station in the contested area. Our heroes quickly revert to their own brand of unconventional police work.”

Unconventional indeed.

A few years ago, it might have seemed as if a Super Troopers sequel might not have been possible, but the cult classic has been given a second chance thanks to a crowdfunding campaign that raised nearly $5 million. It’s good news for fans of Broken Lizard, as well as anyone who likes quirky comedy that doesn’t quite fit the standard Hollywood mold.

Be ready for the movie next year (if you can remember the date it comes out), and be sure to have a look at the suggested videos that YouTube recommends after watching the trailer – you’ll be getting questions about whether or not men should shave their pubes on YouTube for a while to come.
