Some big cartoon fan recently made a hefty purchase for a sauce that will make a (very, very sick) man out of you.
Likely inspired by Rick and Morty's push to bring back the McDonald's Mulan “Szechuan teriyaki dipping sauce,” an eBay user recently splurged $14,700 for a pair of dipping sauces that the seller found while cleaning a “really old car.” The Szechuan sauce was last available in 1998 as a tie-in with the animated Disney film. The other sauce sold was of the wasabi variety.
"I hope somebody who wants to eat some 20-year-old gnarly sauce gets this," the seller wrote in the item description.
"I would prefer not to sell it to a collector."
Collector or not, the buyer is almost definitely a big Rick and Morty fan.
Thanks to pressure applied by the show's fans, McDonald's has left the door open for a possible return of the sauce that has been gone for nearly 20 year.
“We never say never, because when our customers speak, we listen," a spokesman told USA Today.
