In the immortal words of Chris Rock, “cornbread, ain’t nuttin’ wrong with that.” Truer words may never have been spoken. Cornbread is available all year round, it’s relatively cheap and easy to make, and compliments pretty much any meal ever. Made correctly, it should be warm, moist, with a mild savory sweetness that places it somewhere between mealtime side, and dessert. Perfection.

But no matter what people may tell you, there are ways to improve on perfection. For something as simple as cornbread, there are hundreds of alterations you can make that can take cornbread in many different, yet wonderful directions.
