Make Your Own Cinnamon Saffron Tea

Cinnamon Saffron Tea

In addition to its great gastronomical uses, the spice is thought to have therapeutic healing powers.  Believed to be effective as an anti-depressant, useful for aiding in menstruation and abdominal relief, and boasting overall detoxifying properties, a recipe for saffron tea is just what the doctor ordered.  This recipe uses cinnamon and honey to balance and enhance the spice’s floral qualities.

  • 4 cups water
  • 10 saffron threads
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3-4 tablespoons good honey

Bring water, cinnamon, and honey to a boil.

Turn heat to low then add the saffron strands, cover and simmer for 15 minutes.

Uncover, turn up the heat to medium, and leave for 5 more minutes.

Strain the tea (discard the threads) into cups and serve hot.
