We love New York City for a lot of reasons; the energy, the buildings, the accents. But let’s be honest, we love New York for its cocktails. And, one of the first (and most popular) is that of its namesake: The Manhattan. Dating back to the Mid-1800’s, the true origin of the drink is still up for debate. Truly, we don’t care, its just too good to matter.
2 1/2 oz Rye Whiskey
3/4 oz Sweet Vermouth
2 dashes Angostora Bitters
1 Maraschino Cherry for garnish
Combine the rye, vermouth and bitters in a shaker, ice and stir 26 times. Strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with one maraschino cherry.
