Hey, you! Have you gone vegan for health or moral reasons?
Do you still find yourself craving the sweet taste of animal flesh? Are you beholden to the primal caveman urge to feel hot blood dripping down your chin as you sit forlornly crunching on a stick of celery?
If so, your life choices should be commended – clearly you have a lot of willpower if you’re constantly resisting the urge to devour dead animals.
Thankfully, though, a new imitation meat product may just be the ticket to slaking your blood lust.
Beyond Meat’s plant-based burger patties are designed to look and taste more like meat than anything you’ve seen before, right down to their rich juices.
Of course, in reality, very few vegans find themselves obsessing over whether or not their food resembles actual animal flesh. That’s why these burgers are being marketed not just to vegans, but also to carnivores who feel guilt about their level of red meat consumption.
Beyond Meat’s CEO, Ethan Brown, explains:
“A lot of people love to eat meat. What I’m doing is allowing them to eat more of what they love, more meat. It’s just meat from plants. That’s the only difference.”
These veggie burgers are as healthy as they can be, considering they’re designed to imitate a completely unrelated food source. The burgers are free from soy, gluten, and genetically modified ingredients, meaning that they’re as guilt-free as possible.
Of course, there are plenty of imitation meat products on the market that are designed to appease vegetarians, so it remains to be seen whether Beyond Meat’s burgers are actually anything special.
If you’re hankering for the juices of cooked meat, though, and are trying desperately to stick to a vegan diet, this might be just what you’ve been wishing for.
