At the turn of the 20th Century, cocktail consumption and creation were on the rise. It was nouveau to be on the cutting edge of what was happening in the world of alcohol. And who doesn’t want to be nouveau? Back in the early 1900s this drink was the new thing. Maybe it’s not so modern anymore, but The Modern Cocktail is THE new drink in some of the earliest printed cocktail guides. There are a few different printed recipes for The Modern, but I think the proportions are perfect in the one that we’re going to feature here on The Savory.
