Scoring a Free Drink Just Got Easier With ‘Hooch,’ a Subscription-Based Cocktail App

The days of entering a bar and wondering who you might score a free drink from are essentially over. While flirting with the bartender or pinning down a potential mate are proven to be successful tactics, a new subscription-based app has taken the work out of hustling that free drink so you don’t have to.

For only $9.99 per month, members of Hooch can enjoy one cocktail on the house every night of the week at participating bars and restaurants in New York and Los Angeles, and trust us when we say there is no catch involved! The monthly membership, which is less than the price of a single drink, is a win-win for thirsty customers and establishments alike.

Rather than spending thousands of dollars on advertising, bars and restaurants that partner with Hooch use the app as a promotional tool, with the hope that customers who get their free drink will stay for more. Apparently, it’s working, because members on average are spending “an additional $30-$40 per visit after receiving their complimentary round of drinks, and up to $140 per check at participating restaurants,” according to Lin Dai, CEO and Co-Founder of Hooch.

Members of Hooch are redeeming an average of 16 free drinks per month, and new bars and restaurants are constantly being added to the list. In Los Angeles, there are around 30 Hooch venues, including Shore Bar in Santa Monica, The London, and State Social House. The app is available for download for iOS and Android, and plans to launch in Miami and San Francisco later this year.
