One of The Savory’s favorite playwrights, Tennessee Williams, is probably best known for works such as A Streetcar Named Desire, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and The Glass Menagerie. He is also well known for his fondness of cocktails. His favorite was featured many times in his writings- The Ramos Gin Fizz.

Ramos Gin Fizz (a.k.a. New Orleans Gin Fizz)

1 3/4 oz. Gin

Juice of 1/2 lime

Juice of 1/2 lemon

3 dashes orange flower water

1 egg white

1 3/4 oz. light cream

1 teaspoon superfine sugar

Shake 52 times and wash strainer thoroughly! (Note: Ramos’ original recipe has you shake for a full 5 minutes to create a proper foam. If you have the time, do it. Your straw should be able to be supported in the foam)

Top with Club soda

In The Glass Menagerie, Tennessee Williams says, “Time is the longest distance between two places.” and there is no better way to pass that time than with a Ramos Gin Fizz.
