As residents of Los Angeles, we’re no strangers to veganism being thrown in our faces pretty much all the time. It’s fine, it’s whatever — we’re used to people casually strolling out of a hot yoga class, raving about the latest juice cleanse they’re on, complaining about the smell of bacon wafting through the air when they pass by a Denny’s.
We get it — vegans can be annoying. However, a group of sausage-wielding assailants decided that complaining about meatless individuals wasn’t enough and actually attacked a vegan cafe in the country of Georgia recently.
According to witnesses, more than a dozen animal-carcass-swinging vigilantes stormed the vegan restaurant carrying slabs of meat on skewers whilst wearing links of sausages around their necks. The restaurant’s Facebook page went further into detail, saying, “A group of people who prepared an anti-vegan provocative action, entered and started to be violent. They pulled out some grilled meat, sausages, fish and started eating them and throwing them at us, and finally they started to smoke. They were just trying to provoke our friends and disrespect us.”
The restaurant called the police, but the anti-vegan “extremists” fled the scene before any arrests could be made. It’s unclear exactly who was behind the attacks, but it’s safe to assume that some meat loving hooligans definitely made their (grill) mark on the vegan world.
