Trump Is Using the ‘I’m Kidding’ Defense for the Horrible Things He Says

Once again, Donald Trump has found a way to make himself look completely out of sorts and clueless with regards to what it takes to be President of These United States. After a string of outrageous statements, including the assertion that President Obama and Hillary Clinton were the "co-founders" of ISIS, now he's taking a very cowardly tactic by saying his very impassioned attacks were simply "sarcasm."

It's a complete reversal, but not a retraction, when Trump said multiple times that he was serious about Obama and Clinton, or their policies anyway, being largely responsible for the creation of the Islamic State. But like the schoolyard bully who suddenly has the entire class against him, he shows that he lacks a spine, or strength, or character of any sort, and screams "I was just kidding" as if everyone was stupid for thinking otherwise.

Meanwhile, Trump is already planning his exit strategy after polling multiple weeks after the Republican and Democratic National Conventions show that Hillary Clinton's massive lead is showing no signs of slowing down. "I'm a truth teller. All I do is tell the truth. And if at the end of 90 days, I've fallen short because I'm somewhat politically correct even though I'm supposed to be the smart one and even though I'm supposed to have a lot of good ideas, it's OK. I go back to a very good way of life."

Please read that again. First off, who talks like this? This is a confused baby speaking. But also, the worst fears of the GOP have now been realized — there is no "pivot." There is no change in Trump to become "more presidential." What this party now has to contend with is they let a drunk toddler take the nomination for POTUS, against a wildly unpopular Democratic candidate, and they're going to lose very, very badly.

All this while Trump traipses across America like it's his own personal sandbox.
