Boston Fans And Announcers Upset Celtics Aren’t Allowed To Elbow Opponents In The Face

You’ve almost got to admire how Boston fans never let silly things like rationality and objectivism get in the way of their passion for their teams.

But I could certainly do without the unwarranted, high-pitched whining that occurred during the Boston Celtics‘ 95-94 win over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday.

During the closing seconds, Celtics rookie Jayson Tatum caught Toronto point guard Fred VanVleet with an incidental elbow to the face.

The referees’ correctly whistling Tatum for a foul sent the Boston fans at the TD Garden into a rebellion against sanity.

In this video, one kid near a microphone can be heard morphing into an insult-tossing dogwhistle, while shameless homer announcer Tommy Heinsohn, with the benefit of several replays of Tatum’s elbowing VanVleet right in the face, refuses to see the foul.

Shockingly, Celtics fans felt the same way on Twitter

In the end, it didn’t matter, as a DeMar DeRozan iso in the closing seconds fell short, giving Boston the victory.

The Celtics have won 12 in a row after starting the year 0-2.
