Johnny Manziel is in a bit of hot water after a recent video surfaced of the young quarterback partying with a bottle of champagne in hand. Although Manziel didn’t break any laws, it’s cause for concern just months after he checked out of rehab.

Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine has seen the video and is reportedly considering benching Manziel, who was recently named the starting quarterback for the rest of the season.

Mr. Football is fighting back, saying the video could be old. It’s the classic, “No Honey, it happened before we were dating” defense.

“You know there's all kinds of people that come out,” Manziel said, via Cleveland.com. “Videos can be old. Videos can be all kinds of different things. So like I said, I'm not in a state to be able to speak on it because my focus has been on this today and what really matters in this game on Monday. So that's where my focus has been. I did get a chance to relax. So I haven't seen anything like that, and I'm not going to be able to speculate on it right now.”

Manziel also added that he hadn’t seen the video yet.

While it’s possible Manziel is correct, the song playing in the background of the video is “March Madness” by Future. Manziel left rehab back in April and the song was released in March.

Dun! Dun! Dun! Cover blown!

UPDATE

Mike Pettine has given Manziel quite the demotion.

Will Manziel be punished for the rest of the season? That all depends on how McCown plays.
