Damian Lillard on Joining Hometown Warriors: ‘Hell No’

Damian Lillard hasn't been with the Portland Trail Blazers as long as Kevin Durant had been with the Oklahoma City Thunder nor as long as Dwyane Wade had been with the Miami Heat, but that doesn't mean a departure from Lillard wouldn't be devastating to hoops fans in Oregon.

Thankfully for Trail Blazers diehards, that doesn't appear to be something they'll have to worry about for a while.

On Wednesday, an Oakland native on Twitter asked Lillard, also from Oakland, if there were any chance he'd make like Wade heading to the Chicago Bulls or Lebron James going back to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2014 and play for his hometown team: the Golden State Warriors.

Lillard's response? "Hello no."

The two-time All-Star is coming off a season in which he posted career highs in points (25.1) and assists (6.8) per game, so it's no wonder Warriors fans are getting greedy.

Even if Lillard wanted to leave, his on a maximum contract through the 2020-21 season, when he'll make $27 million.

Of course, a lot can change by then. Just ask Thunder and Heat fans.
