It's been two months, and still Stephen Curry is getting roasted over his aggressively boring signature shoe, the Curry 2 Low "Chef."
And this time, it's a roasting wrapped neatly inside another grilling from an entirely different sport.
To celebrate the 40th birthday of punter Shane Lechler, three of his fellow Pro Bowlers on the Houston Texans included a pair of the Golden State Warriors star's shoes in a gift designed specifically for his advanced age.
According to Sports Illustrated's Peter King, who recently spent time at Texans training camp:
On Sunday night, O’Brien and players Vince Wilfork, Brian Cushing and Johnathan Joseph called Lechler to the front of the team auditorium, gave him a cake shaped like the number 40, and also got him a walker, some Rogaine, and those Steph Curry sneakers people think look old-fashioned. Then the teams sang him Happy Birthday.
Well that settles it, King is one of the very few to actually buy (and continue to wear) Curry's shoes, which the reigning two-time MVP has been forced to shamelessly defend in the face of public mockery.
Though everyone, Curry included, knows he doesn't actually think those dad bricks are in fact "straight fire."
