On Tuesday night, Joel Embiid did his best to end the debate: Who’s the best young center in the NBA?

If you ask him, he has the edge over the Minnesota TimberwolvesKarl-Anthony Towns. And it’s in no small part because of Towns’ performance on one end of the floor.

After rattling off 28 points, snagging 12 rebounds, dishing eight assists, and swatting one shot in his Philadelphia 76ers‘ 118-112 overtime victory over the Timberwolves, Embiid took to Instagram for a subtle dig at his counterpart.

He posted a picture of his having blown by Towns en route to the hoop, with the caption, “Euro stepping our way through Minnesota and we ended up raising the cat last night.”

“Raising the cat” is something Sixers fans do after a win. “KAT” is also Towns’ nickname.

Recognizing the slight, the Timberwolves big man fired back.

“That caption was as trash as your picture quality,” Towns responded.

That’s when Embiid came over the top, burning Towns for the reputation he’s gaining as a defensive sieve: “Better quality than your defense.”

The worst part, for Timberwolves fans: Embiid isn’t wrong.

Look no further than the play featured in Embiid’s picture for evidence that KAT on defense looks more like a cat chasing a laser against a wall.
