The pre-fight press conference for UFC 202 started late and ended early on Wednesday, but a lot of action was packed into the few minutes where the four fighters involved in the headlining bouts shared the dais.

When the event began, Nate Diaz, Glover Teixeira, Anthony Johnson and UFC president Dana White took the stage. The seat for Diaz’s opponent, UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor, was unoccupied.

White had a “the show must go on” attitude about McGregor’s absence while Diaz said with a smile that McGregor’s absence was “rude.”

Shortly after McGregor arrived, Diaz obviously felt that the time was right for him to split. So he did, getting out of his seat and heading for the exit of the David Copperfield Theater at the MGM in Las Vegas. But before he left, he and his team flipped off McGregor and exchanged some heated words with the man still seated.

That’s when all hell broke loose and bottles, cans and coffee cups went flying through the air.

The melee resulted in the press conference being shut down early.

As the Diaz team walked through the hotel, Nick Diaz filmed a youngster that had allegedly been hit with one of the projectiles that McGregor launched from the stage.

Immediately after the melee, McGregor spoke to the Los Angeles Times. “I just saw bottles being thrown," he said. "I was like, alright, f**k that, you want to try throwing bottles? I'll throw cans. But it was all in self-defense.” He then added jokingly, “I was scared for my life."

“He walked in like he was the show, but when I left, the show was over," Diaz told UFC Tonight. "So, who’s the show?”

Diaz and McGregor have open workouts scheduled for Thursday and the weigh-in will take place on Friday. Their fight will take place on Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
