If, for some reason, you thought Colin Cowherd had inside knowledge about a September boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor and booked a trip to Las Vegas based on his word, well, sorry, but Cowherd couldn’t have been more wrong.
McGregor is not fighting Mayweather and he’s not fighting in September. Nope, the UFC featherweight champion is fighting Nate Diaz at UFC 202 on August 20. The bout is a rematch of the UFC 196 welterweight fight between the two. Diaz won that fight via second-round submission.

There were times that the rematch looked like it was not going to happen, like when McGregor failed to show up for media obligations after the fight was booked for July’s UFC 200 card.
Once that got smoothed over, it was Diaz’s turn to throw a wrench into the plans.
Through all the ups and downs, the wheels kept turning behind the scenes and on Saturday it all came together, at least that’s what Diaz said early on Saturday night during UFC 199.

One has to wonder what role the “Stockton Slap” that Diaz laid on UFC president Dana White played in getting the fight booked for UFC 202.
