Winning an NBA championship is expensive.

That is, at least, if J.R. Smith is on your team.

Lost in the recent Sports Illustrated piece in which LeBron James proclaimed he's chasing the ghost of Michael Jordan was a mind-blowing, overlooked factoid that writer Lee Jenkins dropped in about the Cleveland Cavaliers' journey to the the city's first championship in any sport in 52 years.

Based on "credible estimates," the team's party-loving shooting guard celebrated the victory by dousing himself and others in $23,000 worth of champagne:

While they toasted their title poolside at XS Nightclub—where Smith sprayed $23,000 worth of champagne, according to credible estimates—James slipped out the door. He wound up at Allegro, an Italian restaurant on the casino floor, sitting silently over a Margherita pizza.

Let's double-check Jenkins' math.

Hmmm, let's see. Carry the one …

Yup, checks out.

Smith wasn't the only Cav enjoying bubbly after the Finals victory.

Reserve guard Mo Williams did his share of showering.

And Game 7 hero Kyrie Irving snuck a bottle into the city's championship parade.
