Rob Gronkowski could have played football anywhere in college, but he chose the University of Arizona because of one thing and one thing only…
The pool parties.
Vanity Fair recently caught up with Gronk’s father, Gordy Gronkowski, to talk about the New England Patriots tight end and his family of jocks. When asked about his son’s decision to attend Arizona, Papa Gronk revealed the truth.
"Rob had something like 65 scholarship offers, and I asked, 'Where are you going? Syracuse? Ohio State?' He goes, 'University of Arizona.' I asked, 'Why there?' 'Dad, if you ever went to a pool party at Arizona, you’d understand.'"
Of course, this doesn’t really come as much of a surprise, since Gronk has never been shy about showing off his partying ways. Even when he’s driving in the car with his teammates, he’s jamming out to Nicki Minaj.
But Gronk’s days of hanging in the sun with a bunch of blonde college beauties is gone. He’s in frozen New England now, recovering from a knee injury. It’s unknown whether or not he’ll play against the Houston Texans on Sunday, but he did practice for the first time since the injury on Thursday.
