Zach LaVine’s All-Star Weekend is just getting started, but he’s beginning things with an MVP award.
Most are talking about LaVine’s opportunity to defend his dunk contest title on Saturday, but he gave fans an appetizer with a 30-point performance in the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge to kick off All-Star Weekend in Toronto.
LaVine scored nine consecutive points at the end of the first half, to give Team USA a commanding 88-79 lead at halftime. The World brought things to within three in the final seconds of the game, but they didn’t pull through because … America
However, the best highlight of the game didn’t come from LaVine. It was Jabari Parker’s posterizing jam over the 7-foot-3 Kristaps Porzingis.

The USA vs. the World thing is cute, but they really should bring back Rookies vs. Sophomores. It's fun to see how much players progress from Year 1 to Year 2 and pinning America against everyone else is unfair (to the world).
