You Won’t Believe How Different Air Travel Used to Be
From airport security to high-class hospitality, air travel in the past was a lot more glamorous than what we experience today.
Fifty years ago, the luxuries of flying were more of a priority than safety, and after reading this you’ll see just how much air travel has changed and be glad you live in a time where flying is a whole lot safer.
A 5-Star Experience
Not exactly the same attention you would get onboard a Delta flight nowadays. Before package holidays became a thing in the 1980s, flights were more expensive and less people flew which meant the the quality of the service was as opulent as a high-end restaurant on ground.
When was the last time you saw a chef onboard your flight?!
Drinks Were Flowing
The free flowing drink service was included in the price of your ticket, and with less people onboard, your flight would have felt like your own private jet.
The light passenger load onboard made it easier for the crew to give you more attention, unlike today where eight crew look after 300 plus passengers.
Postcards Were Handed Out
As flying was a rare and exotic experience, most passengers were first time travelers and were given a postcard to remember their trip and document their flight.
It’s these quaint details that show how much air travel has boomed in society in the last few decades and is as common today as taking the bus.
Fewer Passengers
This image really messes with my head. Although it looks like a minibus, this is in fact a plane. No fighting over who gets the window or the aisle seat on this flight because you can have both.
