Even so, no one thought for a moment that only a short while after they got married, their relationship would descend into betrayal, fraud, and ultimately arrest.

To the staff at a Tampa branch of Amscot November 7, 2019 seemed to be a day like any other. Amscot, in case you’ve never heard of it, is a finance company that offers alternative banking services.

These include cheque cashing, cash advances, money orders, bill payments and even postal services.

Business As Usual

Cashing cheques is a normal part of any day for the staff of Amscot. Lots of money changes hand in the business every day. However, on that day, one customer was about to make it a day to remember when she brought in something unusual and unexpected.

On that day a woman walked into the business and to the nearest cashier. There, she handed them a cheque. So far nothing was out of the ordinary. That was until they looked at the amount and saw that it was a cheque for $1 million.
