Teacher Refuses To Let Girl Wear Mask Because Of Dress Code, Regrets It The Next Day
When her daughter called her and told her that she had been pulled out of class because of what she was wearing on her face, Kristjana Smith couldn’t believe her ears. She went straight to the principal.
At first, she calmly tried to reason with her. And by the end of the meeting, she was seeing red. But soon, the school would be regretting their decision.
Doctor’s Orders
Mikayla was a freshman at Midwest City High School, Oklahoma. And although the school had a dress code, Mikayla’s mom had combed through the rules and she couldn’t find the section that specifically prohibited face masks anywhere.
Her daughter was in the hospital at the time, and her mom wanted to make sure nothing like this ever happened again.
More Than A Common Cold
After frantically searching online, Kristjana had bought her daughter, Mikayla, a face mask to wear when she was out in public — and for a good reason, too. Just weeks earlier, Mikayla had suddenly come down with a sore throat.
At first, they chalked it down to a common cold. That’s when things went from bad to worse for the poor girl.
A Sudden Fever
After staying home from school for a few days, Mikayla’s condition didn’t improve. She had finished her course of antibiotics, but then her fever suddenly skyrocketed and she began to have trouble breathing.
Kristjana raced her daughter to the nearest hospital, and when her doctor looked in her throat he took a double-take. Then, he said the words no parent ever wants to hear.
Confirmation
After an examination and some tests, Mikayla’s doctor told Kristjana that her daughter’s illness didn’t seem to be responding to antibiotics and she had developed a secondary infection.
He wasted no time booking her in, and Kristjana was forced to leave without her daughter while she underwent surgery. But when she returned to school, all hell broke loose.
