These Actors Refused to Kiss Their Co-stars, Years Later They Regret It

Even so, what you may find hard to believe is that even when the actors’ affection is seemingly believable through the lens, offscreen it’s quite a different story.

If everyone’s honest, the Romantic-Comedy from 1994 I Love Trouble was by no means a great film, it wasn’t helped by the complete lack of compatibility that Julia Roberts and Nick Nolte both had together. But what was the reason?

In reality, they couldn’t stand one another. With that in mind, It makes sense that they couldn’t even pretend to have feelings for each other!

There’s more here than gossip. In interviews, both the stars have acknowledged their romantic incompatibility. Roberts described Nolte as “completely disgusting”, while Nolte described Roberts as “not a nice person”.

Being aware of this means it’s not shocking that they were both reluctant to kiss.

#25. Neal McDonough Was Opposed To Kissing Virginia Madsen

Neal McDonough has openly outspoken about not wanting to be romantic with anyone else but his wife, this is because of the actor’s religion. As a man, his beliefs should be highly respected, but as an actor, they may spell trouble for his career.

On the TV series Scoundrel, McDonough was unwilling to be intimate with his onscreen love interest, Virginia Madsen. The actor was fired because of this and subsequently replaced by David James Elliott.

Although McDonough says he doesn’t have any regrets.

“When you’re in bed with another woman on screen — guess what? That’s real. I don’t like that kind of stuff.

Especially now with kids, I don’t want to have my kids say, ‘Hey, Dad, what are you doing with that lady on screen?”, he said.

There’s no question about Julia Robert’s beauty as an actress, despite this, Actor Denzel Washington was not inclined to kiss her in the film they both starred in — 1993’s crime-drama The Pelican Brief. Why did Washington feel this way?

Washington’s reasoning was far from how he felt about Roberts, it was rather that he was opposed to reinforcing Hollywood’s controlling beauty ideals.

The actor also said that he was worried about what reaction African-American women might have while watching him kissing a white woman. Roberts wasn’t bothered at all by the thought of kissing Washington. “Of course, I wanted to kiss Denzel.

It was his idea to take the damn scenes out”, she said.

#23. Kirsten Dunst Refused To Kiss Brad Pitt

The film that brought a cult following, Interview With The Vampire, had Kirsten Dunst kiss celebrity crush, Brad Pitt. With Dunst being only 11 years old, she found the kissing scene gross and was not happy to film it.

In an interview, Dunst said: “Everyone at the time was like, ‘You’re so lucky you kissed Brad Pitt,’ but I thought it was disgusting. I didn’t kiss anyone else until I was 16, I think. I was a late bloomer”.
