Mom Follows Dog In Storm, Nothing Could Prepare Her For What She Would Find

Kayla ducked with each thunderous boom. She knew it was silly but she couldn’t help it. It was the same as when her kid brother jumped out from behind a wardrobe and laughed every time she screamed.

The sky was so low that even stood on a street in her small town with a population of 1030, she felt claustrophobic. If she didn’t find this dog soon it would be wet, cold, and frightened.

Even the night was encroaching quickly, adding to the gloom. She called out again, shrill but loud, anything to pierce the thick air. She ran and called again, her words clipped by another oppressive boom.

Suddenly, a dreadful feeling hit the pit of her stomach.

Storm Harvey Is Coming

It was a Friday night when word spread that Texas would soon be hit by Storm Harvey. So Texans fled to their local supermarket to stockpile on necessities.

Mom of three, Kayla Smith who recently moved to the neighborhood, was paying for her basket full of food when thunder cried out from the blackened sky, the clouds invisible above. Kayla shuddered, her teeth grinding in anticipation.

She nervously smiles at the cashier, not knowing her world was about to get turned upside down.

A Missing Dog

As Kayla finishes packing her last bag, she pays for her goods, slumps the bags over her shoulders, and heads back to her car. Then suddenly she sees a poster on the wall. It was for a missing dog.

An uneasy feeling crept up Kayla’s spine as she looked outside and saw the storm coming. She was running out of time.

Taking The Trash Out

Once Kayla arrived back at her home, she fed her kids and tidied up her house. She then went to take the trash out before the storm got even worse, but what she saw across the road left her lost for words. It was something she never expected.

Especially not when a storm was coming.

A Dog On The Streets

From a distance, it looked like a dog was walking around the streets, alongside the rain hammering down like bullets. What was this dog doing? Was it lost? Whose dog was it?

As Kayla fixates her eyes closer on the dog she notices something about the dog that made her feel uneasy.
