Some of these celebrities got on Prince’s bad side just because he was a bit eccentric and others didn’t follow his many rules for making and performing music. But, almost all of them agreed that Prince was a show-stopping legend despite their disagreements.

Justin Timberlake Didn’t Bring Sexy Back

Prince personally had an axe to grind with Timberlake after his song “Sexy Back” reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. At an Emmy’s after party in 2006, Prince told the audience, “Whoever is claiming that they are bringing sexy back… Sexy never left!”

The feud was cemented when Timberlake ridiculed Prince’s height later.

Madonna Was a Jilted Lover

Even though the two superstars dated in the ‘80s, there was a lot of love lost between them later in their careers. The two had a duet on her “Like a Prayer” album, but Prince felt that Madonna took up too much of their label’s focus, leaving him to feel used by both her and the label.

Prince Wanted Madonna to Appear in His Movie

Even with the bad blood, Prince wanted Madonna to appear in his 1990 film “Graffiti Bridge.” He even flew her to Minneapolis for his pitch. Madonna turned down the part and insulted the screenplay, but the couple continued to discuss other collaborations in the future.

Pink Thought His Advice Was Rude

The pop singer Pink met Prince while backstage at an award show in the ‘90s while she was still an up-and-coming act. She asked him to collaborate and he asked her if she owned her masters, which is something that many musicians sign away the right to own to their record label.

Because she replied no, he told her to come back when she did own them. Even though she later realized that this was a sage piece of advice from the legendary musician, in the moment she thought he was simply being rude to her.
