Most celebrities will do just about anything for a role.  Even things we would never intentionally do. For example, gaining a ton of weight. And these celebrities who gained weight for movie roles were real troopers.

Because they truly committed to their characters. They felt that in order to perfect their role they had to drastically change their shape, and they totally sacrificed confidence and self-worth, but they definitely aced their roles.

Leto gave up his good looks, at least temporarily, to take on the role of John Lennon’s killer in “Chapter 27,” 2007.

The extra 67 pounds he gained changed how he talked, walked, and laughed, and he had to go to the hospital after he started getting sick.

Theron almost always looks slim in her movies, but to play real life serial killer Aileen Wuornos in “Monster,” 2003, she had to up her calorie intake until she gained a whopping 30 pounds. She felt it was the best way to fit into the role and feel more like Wuornos.

To play a proverbial snitch of a vice president, Damon gained 30 pounds for the film “The Informant,” 2009. Fortunately, his stepdaughter thought he just looked funny, and his wife, Luciana was cool with his newfound love handles. So, he kind of enjoyed letting himself go for a while.

To take on the role of a criminal in “Chopper,” 2000, Bana had to gain 28 pounds, which was super easy for him. He only had to eat lots of donuts, and drink plenty of beer. That’s a typical day for most of us. He also lost the weight fast for his next role, which put us all to shame.
