Celebrities Who Totally Screwed up Their Awards Acceptance Speeches

Celebrities are just like us. They’re imperfect, and sometimes they get nervous. So when they get on stage to accept an award, things can go haywire. Sometimes, they screw up big time.

And the only difference between them and us is, when they screw up, they’re in front of a live audience. And on camera with millions of viewers watching. These celebrity award show speech fails are pretty cringe, but we still love them.

Tom Hiddleston, Best Actor,

When Hiddleston went up on stage to accept his award, he started talking about an inspiring story about South Sudan’s Doctors Without Borders, but then circled back and started bragging about the doctors on his show.

Angelina Jolie, Best Supporting Actress,

Jolie’s character in the film was rad, but the actress herself went a bit cray-cray when she made out with her brother, kissing him on the lips on the red carpet.

Then, during her acceptance speech, she said, “I’m so in love with my brother right now,” which totally weirded folks out.

Jack Palance, Best Supporting Actor, “City Slickers,” (1992)

Palance started out talking ageism in Tinsel Town, and then out of the blue he tried proving that all the cogs in his body were still working,so he started doing push-ups. This made people laugh, but totally distracted them from his ageism point.

Taylor Swift, Best Female Video, “You Belong With Me,” (2009)

This was her first VMA, and her moment was ruined by Kanye West, who made everyone want to vomit when he interrupted Swift to brag about Beyonce’s video and how it was the best video of all times. The shock and disappointment was obvious in Swift.
