The Fiercest “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Lip Syncs Of All Time (So Far)

Drag Race lip syncs for the gods, mama!

RuPaul’s Drag Race perfected reality TV. That’s inarguable. And none of the show’s many popular segments and tropes do fans love more than the lip sync the ends each episode. Because it turns drag culture’s cornerstone performance style into a battle. It’s a three-minute melodrama mixed with gladiator extravaganza. Whether lip syncing for their lives, their  legacy or the crown, the Drag Race queens always (well, usually) turn it out. So here are the most sickening, most gag-enducing and altogether fiercest Drag Race lip syncs of all time. For the gods, mama!

25. Bebe Zahara Benet vs. Ongina, Season 1

Season 1 of Drag Race is a different beast from what came after. Now that it’s on VH1 and entered the mainstream, it’s a glossy Emmy winning behemoth. Back in season 1, it was still a niche show on Logo aimed directly at the gay community.

And this lip sync, to Britney Spears’ ‘Stronger’, doesn’t feature the flips, death drops, or gimmicks of later seasons. It is just an old-fashioned lip sync where both of the queens bring their A-game.

Bebe throws her wig off and claims the win, but Ongina left with her head held high. A classic!

24. Detox vs. Jinx Monsoon, Season 5

Two of the strongest queens battled it out on one of the strongest seasons. Jinx is absolutely jaw-dropping.

She is the comedy of comedy queens and delivers the goods with a truly inspired performance that works every beat, rhythm, and lyric of the operatic ‘Malambo No. 1’.

Detox delivers a great lip sync, with her rubber mouthed routine, but it isn’t enough to take down an A-game Jinx.

23. Jujubee vs. Sahara Davenport, Season 2

Jujubee is an absolute lip sync assassin! Performing to Alannah Myles’ ‘Black Velvet’ against Sahara Davenport, she proves her bonafides. While Sahara twirls and keeps it upbeat, Jujubee really feels the performance.

She writhes on the stage, reaches to the judges, with hair all over her face, and she finds the emotion. In doing so, she wins the first of her three lip syncs for your life on season 3.

22. Katya vs. Sasha Belle, Season 7

Katya does jump splits, slow splits, hump splits – every split imaginable – in knocking out Sasha Belle. Not only does she absolutely slay every moment of Olivia Newton-John’s ‘Twist of Fate’, she does it looking flawless.

This is what it takes to win a lip sync in the modern era of Drag Race. You need to be a gymnast who can dance, connect to the song, and serve lewks all at once. No one embodies that better than Katya!
