Gigi Hadid is absolutely not here for body-shaming trolls attacking her “too thin” appearance.

Instead of celebrating her jaw-dropping close of the  Bottega Veneta 2018 ready-to-wear show during New York’s iconic fashion week, the the 22-year-old model was instead pressured to respond to body-shaming trolls on social media. Initially criticized earlier in her career for being “too fat and too short” when compared to her supermodel peers, Hadid is now catching heat for being “too thin” while strutting her stuff for designers like Jeremy Scott and Prabal Gurung.

At the start of her emotional twitter rant, Hadid revealed that her noticeable weight fluctuation was a result of her struggle with Hashimoto’s disease, an autoimmune disorder that greatly affects the thyroid and can lead to both swelling and weight gain. “When I started @ 17 I was not yet diagnosed w/Hashimoto’s disease; those of u who called me ‘too big for the industry’ were seeing inflammation & water retention due to that,” she wrote.

Thankfully, Hadid then revealed that she has received the medical attention necessary to combat the disease’s multitude of symptoms (other than weight gain) like extreme fatigue and body temperature regulation.

According to the model, she is still eating the same amount as she did when she was at a higher weight. “I have always eaten the same,” she said, “my body just handles it differently now that my health is better. I may be ‘too skinny’ for u, honestly this skinny isn’t what I want to be but I feel healthier internally and am still learning and growing with my body everyday, as everyone is.”

Closing out her epic clapback, Hadid reminded her haters that she won’t be forced to further explain the changes in her body due to the rigid “beauty expectations” set by the fashion industry and critics alike. Assuring her followers once more that her weight loss was not due to drug abuse, Hadid drove her point home in one final push. “Stop putting me in that box just because u don’t understand the way my body has matured.”

Unable to satisfy her critics by being both “too fat” and “too thin,” Hadid is now using her supermodel status to prove one can truly be body positive at any size.
