Following in the stiletto steps of her supermodel mother, Kaia Gerber proved her status as true up-and-comer in the fashion industry with her couture runway debut.
Signed with IMG models, the 16-year-old is far from uninitiated when it comes the world of high fashion. Landing her first gig with Young Versace when she was just 10 years old, Gerber went on to make her initial runway debut in 2017 for Raf Simons’ Calvin Klein Collection. Spring-boarding off of the success of her CK debut, Gerber then represented industry juggernauts like Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang and Versace during the 2018 2018 Spring Fashion week.
Fresh off of landing her first Vogue cover for the February issue of Vogue Paris, (she beat her famous mom by four years, btw–Crawford was 20 when she was featured on the cover of the famous fashion publication) Gerber went on to absolutely nail her couture runway debut.
Crawford took to Instagram to congratulate her daughter in landing a coveted spot on the Chanel runway. “Sweet as a cupcake,” she wrote. Congrats on your debut couture show with @CHANELOfficial today @KaiaGerber!
Despite the fact that Gerber already represented the fashion house at their latest spring/summer show and in the Chanel “Trombinoscope” collection Metiers d’Art 2017/18 show, her most recent brand representation marked a significant departure from ready-to-wear fashion.
While her supermodel mother wasn’t in attendance for Gerber’s runway debut, she was front-and-center for son Presley’s apperance in the Balmain menswear show.
With this major milestone out of the way, we can’t wait to see what Gerber does next!
