At just 16 years old, model Kaia Gerber is dominating both Instagram and the runway as the hot-right-now face of the trendsetting fashion industry.
As the daughter of Cindy Crawford, arguably the most iconic and ubiquitous supermodel of the ’80s and ’90s, Gerber has silenced critics who chalk up her smashing success to nepotism by quickly becoming the darling of major fashion houses like Versace, Burberry and Alexander Wang. With her signature walk, strong social media presence and a resume that belies her young age, Gerber has proven runway after runway and campaign after campaign that she is more than deserving of her spot at the top.
When compared to the other top “Instagirl” models with an active social media presence, Gerber falls far behind Gigi and Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Cara Delevigne when comparing the basic metric of followers. A whopping 84 million followers behind Jenner, Gerber instead focused her efforts on triumphing over her competition in regard to follower engagement–arguably the single most important factor when determining the popularity of an IG profile.
According to a report recently released by the photo-sharing platform, Gerber’s followers are much more likely to actually engage with her uploads–to watch her videos, hit her runway stills with a double tap and comment on her iconic end-of-the-runway twirls.
