Comedian Kevin Hart is the latest celebrity doing damage control following a sex-tape scandal and alleged extortion.
Hart posted an apology to his Instagram account on Saturday night, after press reports of an extortion attempt against the actor. Hart apologized to his wife and kids for the scandal in an emotional video post.
“You know, I’m not perfect,” Hart says in the video. “I’m not going to sit up here and say that I am or claim to be in any way shape or form. And I made a bad error in judgment and I put myself in a bad environment where only bad things can happen and they did. And in doing that I know that I’m going to hurt the people closest to me, who’ve I talked to and apologized to, that would be my wife and my kids.”
Hart, father of two, married wife Eniko Parrish last year. The couple is expecting their first child together at present.
Hart and his representatives have not made details of the tape’s contents public. They have confessed that a woman with a “sexually suggestive” video did try to extort money from Hart using the footage as blackmail. TMZ reports that the video does not depict Hart and an unidentified woman actually having sex, but does include suggestive noises and situations. Representatives for Hart have not confirmed these details.
“At the end of the day, man, I just simply have got to do better,” Hart elaborated in the video. He also expressed his love for his family and his fans.
Kevin Hart currently stars in “The Real Husbands of Hollywood” on BET.
