Any tween can enter the mainstream celebrity circuit with low-production prank/lip syncing videos on YouTube, Musical.ly or Instagram. But the Disney Channel used to be the ultimate goal for any wannabe child star.

Unfortunately, not all of Disney’s young talent went on to conquer adult Hollywood as some fell prey to the common traps of alcohol, scandal and substance abuse while others chose to leave the industry altogether.

15 years after she first took on the lead role of the Disney Channel hit series “That’s So Raven,” actress Raven-Symone remains dedicated to her craft.

From guest appearances on shows like “Empire” and “Nashville” to a guest-host spot on “The View,” Symone retains deep ties to the entertainment industry.

While Symone has been able to find steady work as an actress, her continuing career hasn’t been controversy-free, to say the least.

In 2015, the former child star came under fire after proudly stating that she would absolutely refuse to hire anyone who had a “ghetto name.”

During an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Raven-Symone “set Twitter on fire” after claiming she doesn’t identify as African-American.

“I don’t like labels, but everyone needs them to understand what is going on,” she said. “So, OK, I get it. Give me ‘American.'”

Anneliese van der Pol

As the breakout actress who starred as Raven-Symone’s best friend on the series, Anneliese van der Pol’s acting chops earned her a solid reputation in the industry.

Soon after “That’s So Raven” ended, van der Pol made the switch from television shows to Broadway productions.
