The Duggars (and their married-into-the-clan additions) have once again failed to rework their reputation as one of the the most intolerant public-facing families.

Derick Dillard, star of the “19 Kids And Counting” auxiliary TLC show “Counting On” with wife Jill Dillard (nee Duggar) couldn’t keep his Twitter fingers in their holsters when discussing YouTube star and transgender activist Jazz Jennings. Dillard took full advantage of the social media platform’s upped character limit to lament on the supposed “agenda” of trans individuals while callously misgendering the teen.

Dillard then continued his tweet-attack, adding that not only was Jennings’ status as a trans person invalid, the fact that she began her transition so early was a byproduct of the underdevelopment of her brain.

“Has anyone looked into whether a child is capable of making that kind of decision. We can’t vote ’til we’re 18; our brains aren’t fully developed ’til around 25,” he wrote, inciting the fury of Jennings’ millions of supporters who were quick to defend the teen on social media.

Jennings, true to her oft-preached message of peace and humility in the face of hatred responded by refusing to engage with Dillard’s remarks. The “I Am Jazz” author quickly shut the reality star down with a tweet aimed at spreading the love.

“In the face of constant ignorance and hatred I prefer to disregard negative opinions and continue moving forward with love,” wrote Jennings.

In a follow-up to her response, Jennings re-tweeted TLC’s official statement on the controversy, spreading word of their highly-praised decision to cut all ties with Dillard.

Score one for JJ’s mission to educate, not retaliate, when faced with the hateful ignorance of Dillard’s cyberbullying.
