Acclaimed comedy-drama “This Is Us” debuted its second season on Sept. 26, raising some interesting questions about the precognitive abilities of the show’s writers. Namely, did “This Is Us” predict the Kardashian pregnancies?
In the season premiere, the character Kevin (Justin Hartley) jokes with girlfriend Sophie (Alexandra Breckinridge) that she’ll miss seeing all the Kardashians by foregoing a trip to Los Angeles. Kevin tries to allay her sadness with a joke: “The Kardashians aren’t going anywhere. I promise. They’re like gremlins. By next week, there will be like a bazillion more of them.”
As it turns out, the Kardashians, known for a level of fertility only matched by their sense for generating publicity, have three upcoming births in the family. Kim and husband Kanye West announced a forthcoming child born through surrogacy. Sister Khloe expects a child with boyfriend Tristan Thompson. Sibling Kylie Jenner will give birth to her first child with Travis Scott.
So did the “This Is Us” predict the Kardashian pregnancies? Did the writers get as lucky as the Kardashian women? Or do they have psychic powers to predict the future? More than likely, the writer’s room observed that with five Kardashian siblings, someone would likely spawn another in the near future. Call it a win all around.
“This Is Us” debuted in 2016 to strong ratings and critical acclaim. Actor Sterling K. Brown took home an Emmy for his performance last year. The cast also includes popular actors Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia.
