10 Celebrities & Their Insane Private Islands

Matt Dekneef

What do celebrities who already own their own FULL-BLOWN ISLANDS ask for on Christmas? Before we fathom that question, let’s just take a look at the 10 celebs who have their own private paradises.

Johnny Depp would own an island in the CARIBBEAN. Mr. Jack Sparrow himself purchased the 45-acre island dubbed ‘Little Halls Pond Cay’ for a reported $3.6 million. It includes six beaches, some of which he named after his children, their mom (his ex-partner), and his late friends Marlon Brando and Heath Ledger.

Leonardo DiCaprio loves to unwind near the beach, so naturally the only logical step would be to buy a few. In 2005, the actor bought Blackadore Caye, an island off the Belize coast for somewhere between $1.75 to $2.4 million.

Mel Gibson made an extravagant 4,600-acre island purchase in 2006 for $6 million. Mel can call Mango Island on Fiji his very own oasis – one of the largest private islands in the South Pacific. He’s left most of the island in the same condition as when he bought it, although it is worth noting that he did fly in a bowling alley.

Eddie Murphy owns an island called Rooster Cay, which he bought in 2007 for $15 million. It’s located in the Bahamas, just a few miles away from Nassau.

Country music’s power couple Faith Hill and Tim McGraw can have their own intimate getaway whenever they want. The two purchased Goat Cay – an island in the Bahamas – in 2006 for about $4 million.

Tyler Perry bought a 40th birthday present to himself: White Bay Island in the Bahamas. A milestone moment for the guy whose Madea franchise has paid him back with a net worth of nearly $500 million.

Lenny Kravitz is half Bahamian, so to stay closer to his roots he bought an island in the region. It’s located in the Eleuthera Archipelago for anytime he wants to lie out in peace.

Ricky Martin spent $8 million for Angra dos Reis, an island just off the coast of Brazil. He’s definitely livin’ la vida loca.

Virgin mogul billionaire Richard Branson owns his own slice of paradise. It’s Necker Island, an exclusive 74-acre island in the British Virgin Islands, which he invites his famous friends to lounge around on.

Celine Dion bought herself her own private piece of Quebec, purchasing Ile Gagnon for a whopping $29.7 million.
