George Lazenby played the role in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Then, after publicly denouncing the character and his treatment, he announced he was leaving the character one film in. His show biz career never recovered.

He eventually served three years in prison for tax evasion, making a small comeback in The Expendables 3.
