Amy Adams on Her Awards Season Rivalry with Jennifer Lawrence

As award nominations roll in for the best in film for 2013, this scenario was bound to occur: co-stars being recognized for their work in the same film, starting a mini in-house rivalry between the actors.

David O. Russell’s American Hustle is a front-runner for two primary races this year, both the Screen Actors Guild and Golden Globes, with Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams, Christian Bale, and Bradley Cooper nominated in the latter.

Hollyscoop caught up with Amy at the premiere of her latest film, Her, just hours after her Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. Although she was nominated in a separate category from Jennifer, they’re still rooting for each other, she told us.

“It’s amazing. Everyone in the film did a great job,” Amy said to Hollyscoop. “Our entire cast. Not only does this nomination personally mean a lot, but the SAG nomination that recognizes the entire cast…just so many people. It’s been a really good week for our film.”

Amy heard the news while watching Cinderella with her daughter Aviana Olea Le Gallo.

“I got phone calls this morning, so that always indicates that I’ve been nominated,” Amy said, who’s been nominated previously for her work in The Fighter, The Master and Doubt. “I’m like, no one calls me at 5:30 [a.m.] unless something good has happened…or something really bad.”

Last year similar simultaneous spotlights were cast down on The Help and Les Miserables with both leads and supporting actors in the running (Octavia Spencer and Anne Hathaway walked away with trophies those years). We’ll just have to wait and see how this year’s competition transpires.
