Best Super Bowl Commercials of All Time

Super Bowl commercials have become as anticipated as the game itself, capturing the attention of viewers worldwide with their creativity, humor, and emotional impact.

From iconic catchphrases to unforgettable storylines, these commercials have left a lasting impression on audiences and have become an integral part of the Super Bowl experience.

Let’s take a look back at some of the best Super Bowl commercials of all time that have stood out for their entertainment value, innovation, and cultural impact.

Reebok’s ‘Terry Tate, Office Linebacker’

YouTube

For a commercial that aired before YouTube existed, it somehow still became a viral phenomenon. Though it only aired once on national television, it was downloaded seven million times. The premise of a corporate office hiring a linebacker to keep people in line was irresistibly hilarious. Catchphrases like, “You kill the joe, you make some mo'” and “here comes the pain train” were endlessly repeatable.

Tide’s ‘It’s a Tide Ad’

YouTube

The brilliance of this series of ads was that it had you questioning whether or not every ad you saw was a Tide ad. The first commercial in the series asked – if you saw clean clothes in a commercial, couldn’t it be a Tide ad?

Each subsequent ad started off convincingly looking like an ad for something else – Old Spice, pharmaceuticals, Mr. Clean – but then transformed into a Tide ad. If you watched it live, you really did start wondering if all the ads were Tide ads.

ETrade’s Monkey

YouTube

In the early aughts, a series of new dotcom businesses were booming, and with them came advertising. Among the advertisers was ETrade.

Their commercial, which seemed nonsensical at first, featured a monkey dancing to “La Cucaracha,” and boldly declared that they’d wasted $2 million dollars. Calling attention to the exorbitant cost of a Super Bowl ad was a subversive move, and a memorable one.

Budweiser’s ‘Frogs’

Some ads are memorable because they’re clever. Others are memorable because they’re funny. And some are memorable because they’re just plain weird.

Budweiser’s “Frogs”, which simply features three frogs croaking “Budweiser”, falls into latter category. Somehow, it’s still an unforgettable ad.
