Buffy The Vampire Slayer has been off the air for well over a decade now, but its effects on popular culture are still keenly felt.

For example, when TVLine broke the news of casting for the upcoming Hulu show Runaways, based on the Marvel comics of the same name, the list of actors who’ll be playing supervillains in the show has placed James Marsters, who played Spike in Buffy, front and center on the list.

This is impressive, as Marsters isn’t the only big name star from popular shows that’ll be appearing in Runaways – there’ll be alumni from The Wire, 24, and Alias, among many others.

Here’s the full list, courtesy of TVLine:

“Among the familiar faces on hand are James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Annie Wersching (24), as well as Kevin Weisman (Alias), Brigid Brannagh (Army Wives) and Ever Carradine (Major Crimes).

“Rounding out the parental ranks are Ryan Sands (The Wire), Angel Parker (The People v. O.J. Simpson), Brittany Ishibashi (Emily Owens M.D.), James Yaegashi (Broadway’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s) and Kip Pardue (Ray Donovan).”

Runaways is a very fun if somewhat niche comic from Marvel, in which a group of teenagers discover that their parents are secretly a group of supervillains.

They then, as the title suggests, run away.

This will be familiar ground for Marsters, whose time on Buffy and Smallville has given him plenty of experience at playing villainous characters. The only question now, is what kind of supervillain he’ll be playing – the Runaways comics feature mad scientists, aliens, wizards, time travelers, and mutants, so there’s plenty of possibilities for the kind of character that Marsters will be playing.

Unfortunately, the one character he probably won’t be playing is a British punk vampire, but at least Buffy is on Netflix if we want to see more of Marsters in his most iconic role.
