Earlier this week, we reported that Sophie Turner had revealed that she’d be appearing in an upcoming X-Men movie, which is scheduled to film at some point this year.

The news of the return of Turner’s Jean Grey was exciting enough, particularly for fans of the X-Men movie universe. In the excitement, though, it was easy to overlook another crucial piece of information that the famous actor had inadvertently let slip.

As noted by Screen Rant, in describing her work on the upcoming X-Men movie and how it fits in with her schedule, Sophie Turner accidentally gave us an enormous spoiler for her character’s role in two upcoming seasons of Game of Thrones:

“We’re about to start shooting the next X-Men, we’ve just finished shooting season 7 of [Game of] Thrones, and I’ve got a couple of movies to do before X-Men starts. And then we go on to season 8.”

According to Turner, while she’s wrapped filming for season seven of Game of Thrones, she’ll also be back to film more for the next season of the popular show.

Considering that part of the appeal of Game of Thrones is that audiences never know when a particular character is about to meet a gruesome end, it would seem that Sophie Turner’s character, Sansa Stark, is going to survive the upcoming season.

It’s possible that Turner’s work in season eight of the show will simply be made up of flashback scenes, but this seems unlikely – the phrasing that Turner uses suggests that the final season of Game of Thrones will involve just as much work for her as previous years, so there’s a good bet that Sansa Stark is going to make it through season seven relatively unscathed.

That’s not to say that the next season of the show will be dull. In describing what’s coming, Turner’s costar, Jacob Andersen (better known as the Grey Worm) has said that fans have a lot of twists and turns coming:

“I’m just in awe of how everybody’s managing to fit as much as there is into seven episodes, because it doesn’t necessarily feel like a normal season, it feels bigger…

“It’s gonna be a crazy season. It’s definitely going to blow a lot of people’s minds. It’s still the same running theme; characters that haven’t crossed each other’s paths before will do, and they’re gonna take it even further this time.”

From the sounds of it, whatever’s on the horizon for Game of Thrones, it’s going to be an incredible experience.
